High Point at the Westminster Brewery

“HIGH POINT, The Art of Showing Horses” opened in Westminster, Co at a celebratory reception during the Kentucky Derby weekend at the Westminster Brewing Company, May 2nd & 3rd. Wearing their best Derby bonnets, patrons vied for signature shirts by watercolor artist, Cheri Isgreen. Prizes were awarded for the “Derby Winner,” (best hat), to Nicole Grabowski & the “Daily Double,” (best themed hats worn by 2 people), to Rhonda Smith and Nancy Kelso. Patrons learned to fold a paper horse, (called Zhezi in China) and experimented with Chinese brush painting. A local jazz combo provided tasty musical selections to the festive atmosphere.

A fun group of friends participated in Saturday’s workshop, “Muse & Brews.” Cheri led the group with tips and techniques to discovery their Muses through found objects. We enjoyed watching the Kentucky Derby back stories and the big race while sampling the Brewery’s exemplary craft beers and playing with art materials, techniques, and ideas.

Imagine if you were faced with the prospect of losing your beloved equine companion because you could no longer afford to feed or care for him. We can’t imagine this either. Colorado Horsecare Foodbank™ was founded on the fundamental belief that our horses make our lives better, and they deserve to be treated with the utmost care and respect.

Families across Colorado are facing challenging financial circumstances. Whether it’s the loss of a job, reduced wages, or a health crisis—the impact has been enormous, especially on horse owners.  Recent natural disasters, including fires and floods, had added to the challenges horse owners face.

Colorado Horsecare Foodbank, a 501(c)3 nonprofit foundation, was formed to keep people and their horses together during difficult financial times by providing short-term grants for hay and grain.
